Notes
Originally written sometime in late 2007. I was a bit depressed-ish when I first wrote this and I had just come across a site that brought up the old SM abuse rumors, and the whole ‘Only13′ thing was going on with Super Junior (and let it be known that I am 100% in support of Henry & Zhoumi) so that was kinda where the inspiration for this came from. Also when I revised and added to this recently, it was just a bit after finding out about the TVXQ vs. SM Ent. stuff and so if I seem like I’m making the entertainment industry out as pure evil… it was kinda due to all of that. I edited and add to this yet again as I was putting it here on SH.. It just gets longer and longer every time I re-read it.. hehe.~
-start-
When people look at us they never see who we really are.
They see us as what they think and what they believe that we are.
Just based on one photo, or video clip, or just a few words on paper or their computer screen,
They make the choice to love or hate us without ever really knowing us.
In the eyes of our fans we are perfect and can do no wrong.
But we’re not perfect. They may call us idols, but we’re only human.
We aren’t gods to be worshiped, we are just the same as them
We all have problems and make mistakes. They just don’t ever notice…
In the eyes of the antis we can do no right and are forever imperfect.
Why can they not even give us a chance? What have we done to them?
Don’t they realize that we’re just like them, trying so hard to achieve our dreams?
We know we aren’t perfect, but is that any right for them to wish for our deaths?
We make many mistakes, we’ve done things we aren’t proud of,
but there is no one who hasn’t done the same.
In the eyes of our parents we are their children who have grown up too fast.
They await the moments together that are always far too short.
They long to be there for us when we’re hurt, to comfort us when we’re ill.
But, they know it’s what we wanted, to be a star, to be on the stage singing and dancing.
Though they don’t realize there are days we don’t care about that anymore,
Days when we want to run away from the harsh criticism and sleepless schedules;
Times when we just want to be able to be children again and stay with them forever.
And in the eyes of the ones we’ve sold our souls to,
we are just yet another way to make a profit.
They have forgotten that we are not just tools used to make money.
We aren’t puppets, and we are not slaves, though they treat us as such.
But it seems they don’t remember what we really are.
Only in the eyes of the other members are we seen as we are.
Only they see through the ‘picture perfect’ smiles, the immaturity, the arrogance,
and all the rest of our acts to see through to the child inside
who just wants to be loved for who they really are.
The child with the dream like so many others, of being a star.
To be someone that people would look up to,
Not just for their looks, not just for their talent, but for their heart.
We are more than just the famous members of some idol group.
We are co-workers, and friends, but most of all we are a family.
We are a family that went through the same pains
of homesickness and longing for our parents’ warm embrace.
The same trials and hardships to become who we are known as now.
In their eyes we are just the same.
