Belonging

Written in 2007 shortly after Don’t Don was released. Came up with it while listening to the album one day, and only got around to writing it because my sister was using the only computer we had with us at the moment, so I had nothing better to do. I was not exactly super knowledgeable about all the Super Junior members at the time and most of my knowledge came from wikipedia, fanfiction, random videos and pictures, and the words of other fans. Just a spur of the moment idea, short, random, and first fanfic like thing I ever wrote for a non anime/game fandom. Changed nothing from my original drabble, except some spelling mistakes.

*hyung (형) is the word used in Korean when a younger male is speaking to a older male. Translates to elder brother.

When Kyuhyun first found out he was going to be added into Super Junior as the thirteenth member he was surprised, but also very worried and nervous… for you see he was afraid he wouldn’t fit in, that they wouldn’t like him. They had all known each other since their time as trainees, they had debuted together, and he was just being thrown in…

Even now, sometimes he still felt like ‘the new guy’, still felt as though he didn’t belong…. but the thoughts of ‘what-if’ and the feelings of not belonging never stayed to long anymore…

“KyuKyu~~~ You’re being way to quiet today! How can staring out the window all day be sooo interesting!? ”

Kyuhyun had to smile at the sight of his blond haired hyung standing at the entrance to the bedroom embracing on of his many toy bunnies and looking at him with an adorable pout gracing his lips.

“Sungmin-hyung, I’ve only been looking out the window for half an hour at most, not all day.”

“well… so?” Sungmin replied with a childish huff, “I can’t find my pink bunny so come help me look! okay?~ I think Hyukjae took it.”

…though this was definitely one of the times where Kyuhyun had to wonder how on earth he ever could have been afraid the anyone in his dear SuJu family wasn’t going to like him, or that he wasn’t going to fit in with them…
